“ On my most recent visit to LOCAL Public Eatery in Gastown I had a great experience. I adore Gastown and LOCAL is situated in a perfect spot to people watch and, if on the patio, the afternoon sun is in the perfect spot. The inside is open and modern/rustic looking. A great bar is situated in the middle of the restaurant with many high top tables. I was lucky enough to be in Vancouver on a very warm and sunny February day. I am from Winnipeg, so coming from our temperatures to then be able to sit on a patio made this experience particularly memorable. I had the fish tacos and I don't know what kind of salsa they make for the dish but I need to find the recipe. SO good. To drink I had the Gastown Sour that was delicious. When I went back the next day, (as I said, I love Gastown) I had an Old Fashioned and that too, did not disappoint. My server was Jesse. I believe he was the manager on both days. He made an effort to get to know me and welcomed me back the next day. Phil was the bartender the next day and he was equally as enigmatic and welcoming. Thank you LOCAL. As always, a pleasure. ”
“ Teanna, Sophia, Kiki and miya are so nice; I think I love them; I’ve never had a better experience with staff, everyone women. I will definitely return. I have had the best time. I will give my phone number to all of them ”
“ Delightful find when needing comfort food on a cool afternoon. The lunch special for 20 Canadian, hit the spot! Staff are friendly and welcoming, and for a fussy beer palate, are accommodating with a sample to taste before choosing. Much appreciated! And just so you know, the beer is very drinkable! The meal is just enough and very tasty! Complements to the chef! ”
“ Last time I was here was for evening socials night outs. Today I stepped in for a quickie lunch and was pleasantly surprised how good the offerings were. I had a steak and dumpling item on the menu. Initially it sounded odd, but turned out to be quite good. The dumpling though Asian inspired, still has more of a western flavor to it. The steak was seasoned quite well and I enjoyed it. It was a 28 item on lunch menu. ”
“ Great spot to hit in Gastown, good beer list, service, atmosphere and the happy hour is strong with 6beers and 5 Off all apps. Had great weather and awesome table outside to enjoy the day. The ladies working out front were attentive and cheerful. ”
“ Stopped in to get out of the rain and was pleasantly surprised by their happy hour offerings. The guava margarita was lovely. The pierogis were a nice snack. Beer was good. Server was very friendly and made sure we were never left thirsty. ”
“ We decided to eat here as we had tickets to The Art of Bansky “Without Limits” exhibition in the 2 floors above the eatery. It is closing June 22 so see it while you can as it is amazing and very thought provoking! The eatery was very busy. We chose an outside table as it was a reasonably nice day and not raining. I ordered the Pulled Pork Mac ‘n Cheese and a draft beer. It was creamy, cheesy, the pork was smoky and tender so a perfect dish! I’d ordered it again! The Phillips ‘DinoSour’ Stone Fruit on tap was a nice spring/summer beer, tart and sour and very refreshing! My wife ordered the Brooklyn Burger with 2 patties, smoky cheddar, arugula, a crispy onion ring, red pepper relish and horseradish aioli. The patties were very tasty and not too large with lovely gooey cheese, peppery arugula, the onion ring was great and she loved relish on a burger! It also came with some nice, crispy seasoned fries. I almost ordered it myself but couldn’t pass up the Mac ‘n cheese. The service was great and the place has a great atmosphere! If it’s a nice day eat outside as the patio is great! We’d eat here again! ”
“ Wasn’t able to get our servers name but she was wearing sambas and a gold casio watch! She also had a dumpling tattoo lol. She was friendly, attentive, and super kind! Food was 11/10!!!! We ordered the steak and duplings, fried chicken, and the best one were the crispy potatoes!!! Loved the vibe too! They make a really good aperol spritz!! ”
